Prologue
He stood in front of the door to the penthouse. Five years ago when Damian walked out it he never thought that he would ever walk back through it. At least he never planed to but he should have learned that what you plan usually is not what happens. Damian certainly never planed to fall for his mentor and close friend Jason Morgan. His Stone Cold no not his never his. He does not even now how Jason will react to finding him at his door. He pretty sure that Jason thinks that he just up and left for no reason, abandoning his friend in the process. This was not getting him anywhere it was time to face the music.
Damian knocked on the door and waited. When the door opened the person on the other side was not someone he expected but there stood Jake. Jason’s son not even in double digits age wise looking for all the world like he had always been there.
“Who is it Jake” came Jason’s voice from further in the penthouse. “Don’t know some guy” Jason appeared in the doorway holding a little girl in his arms. The look on his face when he saw who it was told Damian that he felt like he had just been punched. “Spinelli” was all Jason was able to say.
When Jason heard the knock on the door and Jake got up to answer it the last person he expected to be on the other side was Spinelli. His one time roommate and friend or so he thought till the day he came back to the apartment to find all traces that Spinelli had ever lived there gone. He was use to people leaving him but he never thought Spinelli would be one of them.
